So we were told that we could only be there at 8pm. The dinner was at their own home. Natasha immediately knew who I was when we rang the doorbell and I was quite surprised but I knew why towards the end of the night.
Since not everyone arrived yet, we just chilled at their living room along with 2 other couples. Shortly after, everyone arrived and we were assigned to our seats. The seating arrangements has its purpose.
The purpose of organising supper club is to meet new people and to socialise, basically to mingle. The boyfriend and I sat next to Vanessa and Ben. Vanessa is Jen's daughter and she was told to experience what is to be like on the other side since she's always helping out. We both got to know Vanessa and Ben more. They were really nice and it was great and fun.
As for the food... ohhh myyyy... they were sooooooooo deeeellicciiiooouusss!!!
We had like too many yummy starters that prep our stomach just right for the entree and satisfied it with 2 amazing desserts. Wanna know more about the menu? We tried to take pictures for every dish but we failed because the food was too good and made us forget to take photos.
Starters:
1) Mushroom Tartlets and Pecan cognac Brie on French (loved the mushroom tartlets!!)
2) Solothurn Boats
3) Arancini
4) Madeleines with crème fraiche and caviar
5) Toasted almond-encrusted creamy chevre cheese and succulent grape truffles (this one was like ferrero rocher)
7) Portobello Mushrooms
Entrees: There were 2 options
1) Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding and Grilled Coloured Peppers, pumpkin
2) Posh Fish and Chips (Stuffed Salmon with Fennel and potatoes al forno)
The boyfriend and I both had the salmon and it was yummmmm. I love salmon.
Desserts:
1) French Pastry with Pralines and/or blueberry (picture is showing the pralines)
2) Pecan Apple Crisp with Ice-cream (my all-time favourite pie: apple pie)
The whole night it was just eating and anticipating what the next dish will be while chit-chatting away. It was a very lovely night indeed. The ambience is cosy and very relaxing. Christian Palencia (her son) came to serenade us with his singing. He's going to release his first EP this year, he wrote this song and sang it and I really like the chorus, have a listen:
It was only at 12am when we left Aunty Jen's place. We took pictures with Jen and Vanessa. We didn't take it with Natasha :( so we will be back to make sure we take it with her. She was such a nice waitress informing us what each dish were, making us feel at home. It was a very nice pleasant experience and a lucky opportunity to have.
SO....
